PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS

LAYING THE GROUNDWORK

Due to their regional nature, all infrastructure projects such as the construction of catenary lines and local control systems always have to be considered individually. Given that the various trades involved dovetail closely, the required level of detail in the design of catenary lines and local control systems has risen significantly in the last few years. The construction or renewal of catenary lines therefore requires thorough preparation. Before the first pile is driven in, you as the owner of a railway installation will generally be faced with a number of questions and decisions:

SOLUTIONS
Our design and engineering group for catenary lines and local control systems will accompany you every step of the way. The team comprises highly motivated and experienced design engineers who are familiar with all of the relevant rules and regulations, and they are there to help you with every aspect of planning. From basic evaluation, preliminary design, costing and design documentation through to final design with special-purpose solutions and detailed bill of materials as well as the complete preparation of as-built documentation.

The required consistency is ensured by the use of cutting-edge IT-tools for catenary design. The planners and draughtsmen based at our design offices in Hanover, Leipzig and Forchheim also have access to the latest CAD technology. Careful design right at the start of a construction project by design engineers with several years' experience has an immediate positive impact on the overall costs of a project. The SPL Powerlines Germany team is responsible for the precise planning and monitoring of catenary guides, especially in critical areas such as switches or low-clearance catenaries.

Our experience of project implementation has taught us that besides diligence, finding a viable, and at the same time cost-effective solution is critical. Our design engineers are particularly sensitive to technical feasibility. The time between the release of funds and the scheduled start of construction is often shortened significantly. This frequently necessitates a high degree of flexibility at the design stage in order to ensure that the planning permission that is needed has been granted by the desired deadline. Our designers are well aware of these factors and strive to reach a solution even when time is particularly short. With three design offices, we are able to deploy our specialists at short notice, wherever they are needed.
