THE POWERLINES GROUP AT UITP 2009
For the first time, the Powerlines Group has participated in the “UITP Mobility & City Transport Exhibition” (8 to 11 June, Messe Wien). A total of 6,400 visitors attended this largest international trade fair for mobility and mass transit, at which some 350 companies from 40 different countries exhibited their products and innovations.
INTERNATIONAL CONTACTS & LIVELY HIGH-LEVEL EXCHANGE
The members of the Powerlines Group – SPL Powerlines Austria, SPL Powerlines Germany, SPL Powerlines Sweden and FEB Fahrleitungs- und Elektrobau – informed their visitors about the entire spectrum of products and services for mass transit and mainline transport, though the main focus of the exhibition programme was on the promising “third rail” sector.
On trade days, the Powerlines team was pleased to welcome a large number of guests to its exhibition stand – besides virtually all the Austrian railway operators, visitors also included potential customers from the United Kingdom, America, Germany, France, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Turkey and Iran. The exhibition not only provided ample opportunity for an exchange of views with long-standing business partners, but also to make many new contacts. Over and above this, UITP was also an excellent occasion for the members of the Powerlines Group to present their experience with projects in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, as well as their system-specific expertise. Both designers and consultants expressed tremendous interest in the comprehensive engineering services offered by the centre of competence in the “third rail” sector.
On public day it was the “third rail” exhibits that attracted the most attention: Powerlines experts were happy to explain the complex interactions between the railway vehicle and the line or conductor rail, and visitors were impressed at the amount of know-how concealed beneath the third rail’s yellow protective covers.
